FINACT is informed by the experiences of parents and family members and professionals who have been involved or are passionate about care and protection issues within the Canberra region. We are an unfunded not-for-profit organisation.
FIN ACT believes that birth families play an essential role in the lives of children and young people. While FIN ACT acknowledges that some children need to be apart from their families, it believes that, as key stakeholders in the lives and futures of their children, parents and families must be involved in decision-making processes that affect them. FIN ACT believes that relationships should be nurtured and human rights, including aspects of International Human Rights Convention on the Rights of the Child such as the right to parent and the rights to resource and support to enable parenting is afforded to families involved in statutory child protection systems.
As such Fin ACT's mission is to promote the creation of a child protection system in Canberra which is respectful and inclusive of parents, family members and their networks as key stakeholders in the lives of their children.
Even though FINACT does not provide services, feel free to call or email us and we will do out best to point you in the right direction.
